New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the National Monetisation Pipeline Programme (NMPP) today. According to reports currently emerging, the central government will be able to fund infrastructure projects through disinvestment in government companies through this program. It is said that with the help of the program, the Government plans to raise Rs. Now, this program is also being seen as asset monetization. On the other hand, if we consider financial experts, the Central Government can give a clear picture of a program to the disinvestments with the help of this program.
It is scheduled to be formally announced at around 5 pm this evening. You must be aware that this year when the Budget was presented, it was announced. There will reportedly be a dashboard system that will indicate in which sector the asset has to be monetized and how much money it will bring. Some sources said, the government is planning to raise Rs 6 lakh crore from asset monetization and the highest number of monetization is expected from the highway sector and railways.
During the Budget Speech for 2021-22, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that "Asset monetization was described as a very important financing option for building new infrastructure. The Government is looking at the monetization of properties not only as a means of funding but also as a better strategy for maintenance and expansion of infrastructure projects.''
