NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed scientists on National Science Day on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Twitter: "Greetings on National Scientific Day to all scientists and science enthusiasts. Let us reaffirm our commitment to carrying out our joint scientific responsibilities and harnessing science's capacity for human advancement." On Sunday, the Prime Minister gave a portion of his monthly radio speech, 'Mann Ki Baat,' in which he discussed National Science Day.

The National Science Day honours the Nobel Prize-winning discovery of the "Raman effect" by Indian physicist C.V. Raman. He noted that February 28 is also known as 'National Science Day,' as it is the day when the Raman Effect was discovered. "I pay my respectful gratitude to all the experts who have contributed considerably to enhancing our scientific path," he had stated, alongside CV Raman ji. Prime Minister Modi advised all families to make small steps to help their children acquire a scientific temperament.  He also asked teachers and parents to encourage all students to ask questions and to work with them to discover the appropriate answers.
