The entire pilot's petition against the detention of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah under the Public Safety Act (PSA) could not be heard today in the Supreme Court. Justice Mohan M. Shantanu Godar has separated himself from the hearing in this case. Due to this, it was not possible to hear this matter today. Now a second bench of the Supreme Court will hear the matter on Friday i.e. 14 February. Under the PSA, no hearing could be held for the first two years, but in the year 2010, some changes were made in it.

In this petition, Sara Abdullah has said that it is illegal to keep Umar Abdullah in custody. The petition also states that there is no question of any threat to law and order from them. In spite of this, PSA has been imposed on Omar, it is totally wrong. The petition demanded that the February 5 order to keep Umar Abdullah in custody under the PSA should be quashed immediately. After this, he should be produced before the court.

Omar Abdullah, leader of the National Conference and Mehbooba Mufti, leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, has been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The PSA was implemented in the year 1978 by former Chief Minister Sw Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Then he made this law to stop people indulging in illegal felling of forests. However, later it was also applied to those who are considered a threat to law and order.
