Meeting between Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana begins, may lead to water sharing solution

A meeting was held on Friday between Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh CM Vys Jagan Mohan Reddy over river sharing and other issues. Sources in the Telangana government said that Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy along with ministers, advisors and officials of his government reached Rao's official residence-cum-camp office on Friday morning.

According to the information received, the two Chief Ministers held a meeting before the two sides met.  Godavari and Krishna river water and many other pending issues are believed to have been discussed. Telangana CM KC Rao attended the swearing-in ceremony of Vys Jaganmohan Reddy at Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh. And later the two leaders met on a few occasions. Casey Rao had earlier said that he had agreed to ensure that. That both states provide river water for irrigation and other purposes.

Under its control, the Andhra Pradesh government has recently handed over buildings to Telangana in the secretariat premises. For 10 years since 2014, Hyderabad was allotted buildings as the common capital for both states. Although five years have passed since the division of the state in 2014, several issues, including the division of assets and liabilities between states, are pending due to their lack of agreement. Sources said the meeting of the Chief Ministers is expected to help resolve many such pending issues. If these serious issues are solved, the public will get a lot of relief.
