Seoul: Officials reported that thousands of people were evacuated from South Korea on Saturday as a result of landslides and a dam overflow brought on by a third day of torrential rains.

According to the Ministry of Interior and Safety, 1,567 people had been evacuated nationwide as of 11 a.m. (0200 GMT), and the number may increase as water overtops the dam in North Chungcheong province.

According to provincial authorities, more than 7,000 people were subject to evacuation orders issued by local governments at various times.
The maximum amount of water that Goesan Dam is capable of discharging was flowing into it as of 9 a.m.
