BHUBANESWAR: In a bid to provide better policing to people in the light of rising population, the Odisha government has decided to open 36 new police stations across state.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik endorsed a proposal in this connection on Saturday, August 28,  and asked officials concerned to make these police stations functional with immediate effect.

The locations where new police stations will be set up include Bagedia and Gopalprasad in the Angul district, Gopalpur and Anantpur in Baleswar, Bargarh Rural in Bargarh, Nimakhandi in the Berhampur police district, and Maitri Bihar in the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate region, Charichhak in Puri, Nachuni in the Khurda district, and the Jharsuguda Airport.

According to the officials, all of these new stations were built by subdividing the space of older stations and modernising the police outposts. 563 new positions at all levels, from constable to inspector, have also been created for these additional stations.

The Chief Minister said  that with the opening of these new police stations, the efforts of the Odisha police to improve police services for the public will be further reinforced.

As per reports, all these new stations have been generated by division of existing police stations and up-gradation of outposts. The Chief Minister has expressed optimism that the efforts of Odisha Police will be strengthened in providing better police services to the people due to the establishment of these 36 new police stations.
