'Want AG-DGP or me?' Sidhu's ultimatum to Punjab govt

Amritsar: The ongoing political turmoil in Punjab Congress is not going to stop. On Monday Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu hit out at the Channi government over the AG and DGP issue. Sidhu gave an ultimatum to the government saying that the Punjab government should decide either the officers who compromised on the issue of cruelty should be taken or me. After Sidhu's ultimatum, the situation in the Punjab Congress is expected to worsen once again.

CM Channi has reportedly objected to Sidhu's pressure strategy and placed the issue before the Congress high command. Sidhu has been calling Charanjeet Singh Channi his younger brother on several occasions ever since he became the CM of Punjab. But the tug of power between the two is not hidden from anyone. Channi is not happy with the way Sidhu has been repeatedly interfering in the functioning of the government. Even after Sidhu's pressure, Channi is avoiding commenting on Congress president Sonia Gandhi's instructions. Channi has told the party high command about the pressure being exerted by Sidhu.

Channi has also reportedly made it clear to Punjab in-charge Harish Chaudhary that no appointment will be cancelled under pressure from anyone unless a cabinet-level consensus is reached. Sidhu also rejected during a press conference on Monday that he had extended Channi's name for the CM post. Sidhu challenged the Congress government to decide whether to elect an officer or him.
