Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was on Monday sentenced to jail for seven years by the anti-corruption court in connection with the Al-Azizia case.The court acquitted the former PM in In the other corruption case related to Flagship Investment.

As per the reports of Geo News, The court found that Sharif was unable to provide the source of income for the ownership of a steel mill in Saudi Arabia.

The leader of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, says the graft charges that led to his sentencing today were politically motivated.

He was present in court when the verdict was delivered. (Sharif was acquitted today in another case: the Flagship Investments corruption case in the Panama Papers scandal. Not that this will bring him much cheer.)

Ealier, In July, the court gave Nawaz Sharif a 10-year sentence on charges related to the purchase of upscale apartments in London.

Sharif was released from prison in September pending an appeal.

As per his request, Sharif will be sent to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, and not Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
