Lahore: Officials in the Punjab province of Pakistan have formed a four-member committee to take a decision on the request to raise the limit of stay abroad on the claim that the condition of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is 'very serious'. Sharif has urged the Punjab Home Secretary to extend the period of stay abroad (indefinitely) after the expiry of the four-week period sought for medical treatment abroad.
On Wednesday, a source told Dawn News that the provincial government has formed a four-member committee under the leadership of Law Minister Mohammad Basharat Raja to look after the matter. The former PM left for London last month after being granted permission by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to go abroad for a four-week bail period for medical treatment.
Let us tell you that former PM Nawaz Sharif, who is serving a jail sentence in the corruption case, was instructed by the Islamabad High Court to Sharif that he can seek the permission of the Punjab government for relief if needed in future.
