Bhopal: In a major anti-drug operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) jointly seized drugs worth approximately Rs 1,800 crore during a raid at a factory near Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The operation uncovered a significant quantity of MD (Mephedrone) drugs being illegally produced at the facility.

Authorities have arrested two suspects linked to the manufacturing of these illegal drugs, marking a substantial victory in the fight against drug trafficking. Gujarat minister Harsh Sanghvi commended the law enforcement agencies involved, calling it a “massive win in the fight against drugs.” In a post on X, he praised their relentless efforts, stating, “This achievement showcases the tireless efforts of our law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking and abuse. Their collaborative efforts are crucial in safeguarding the health and security of our society.”

This drug haul follows another significant bust that occurred just a week earlier in Delhi. In that operation, the Delhi Police seized over 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, with an estimated street value of around Rs 5,620 crore, from Mahipalpur in South Delhi. It is believed to be the largest drug bust ever recorded in the national capital.

According to reports, the marijuana seized in the Delhi operation was suspected to have originated from Phuket, Thailand, and was smuggled into India via air. The cocaine was believed to have been sourced from West Asian countries and other Indian states. Investigations revealed that the accused had used cryptocurrency for transactions and later distributed the drugs.

Five individuals—Tushar Goyal (40), identified as the mastermind, Jitendra Pal Singh alias Jassi (40), Himanshu Kumar (27), Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23), and Bharat Kumar Jain (48)—were arrested in connection with the Delhi drug operation.

These back-to-back busts underscore the intensified crackdown by Indian law enforcement agencies on drug trafficking networks operating both within the country and internationally.
