Mumbai: Relief is reported for former Maharashtra Deputy CM and NCP leader Ajit Pawar. Ajit Pawar, accused in the irrigation scam case, has been given a clean chit by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). In an affidavit filed on November 27 in the Bombay High Court, the ACB has said that Ajit Pawar cannot be held responsible for corruption of execution agencies, as he had no legal duty.

It is noteworthy that ACB suddenly closed some cases related to irrigation scam in Maharashtra amid political tussle. There was a lot of speculation about this. However, the ACB later clarified this on its own. ACB DG Parambir Singh had said, 'We are investigating the complaints received regarding 3 thousand tenders related to irrigation scam. This is an everyday investigation that has closed. In cases where investigation is already going on, they will continue.

The ACB also arrested some government officials in this case. There were allegations against Ajit Pawar that he had approved all kinds of projects related to irrigation and his growing budget. Due to this, he came under suspicion. Apart from the irrigation scam, Ajit Pawar is also an accused in the Maharashtra Cooperative Bank scam.
