NCP-Congress will contest together on 40 seats in Maharashtra for general polls: Praful Patel

NEW DELHI: The Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress have finalized a seat-sharing formula for the upcoming 2019 general elections,  as NCP leader Praful Patel calimed on Friday. The two parties will be contesting together on 40 Lok Sabha seats. He also said that a decision on eight remaining seats is yet to be taken. 
"We have decided that NCP and Congress will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections together on 40 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. However, a decision is yet to be taken for the remaining 8 Lok Sabha seats of the state," Patel stated.
Worth mention here Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats which is the second highest after Uttar Pradesh which has 80.
The NCP leader also gave off confidence that the alliance with like-minded parties would get "great success" in the election battle. "We are always of the opinion that like-minded parties should come together. I am sure that the alliance will achieve great success," he asserted.
Patel's statement come at a time when NCP chief Sharad Pawar held a talks with Top leaders to talk about the party's preparation for Lok Sabha polls.
 "We want to bring parties which believe in (chief Constitution maker) BR Ambedkar's ideology together," Patel stated.
