In an important case on Wednesday, the central government told the Supreme Court of the country that in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, it has accepted the recommendations of the SIT headed by Justice Dhingra and action will be taken as per the law. The SIT headed by retired Delhi High Court judge Justice SN Dhingra has examined 186 cases of riots and submitted reports. In this, serious allegations have also been made on the police and in some cases the lower courts.

In the investigation report of the SIT constituted by the Supreme Court regarding this matter, it has been told that out of the cases he investigated, five cases were those in which Sikhs were massacred at railway stations in Delhi. On November 1 and 2, 1984, five railway stations of Delhi - Nangloi, Kishanganj, Dayabasti, Shahadra and Tughlakabad - Sikh passengers were dragged to death by trains. But in these cases the police did not arrest anyone from the spot. The police said that the police force was very small and the rioters were numerous, so no arrests were made.

For your information, let us tell you that during the hearing on Wednesday, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Committee member Gurlad Singh Kahlon has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a re-investigation of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases. Hearing the same petition, the Supreme Court on 11 January 2018 constituted the SIT under the chairmanship of retired Judge SN Dhingra of the Delhi High Court, which was entrusted with the investigation of 186 cases. The SIT has given its final report after investigation.
