Delhi CAA Clash: CM Kejriwal convenes emergency meeting of MLAs-Officers

New Delhi: Kejriwal, the chief of the ruling AAP party in the capital Delhi and Chief Minister Kejriwal has announced an important meeting on Tuesday at his residence in view of violent protests in North East Delhi. AAP MLAs and officials are going to be involved. The violence erupted in North East Delhi on Tuesday and 24th February 2020 for the second consecutive day on Tuesday i.e. 25th February 2020 in protest of opposition and support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

According to the information, in many areas of Yamunapar (East Delhi), on Tuesday i.e. on 25 February 2020, there was stone-pelting, arson and firing throughout the day. 5 people including a policeman were killed, while more than 100 people were injured. It is also being said that in addition to this, 12 policemen including Shahdara Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amit Sharma have also been injured. A total of 5 people have died, including one policeman Ratanlan.

It is also being said that the protesters set fire to petrol pumps and houses in Bhajanpura and houses and shops in Jaffarabad during the day, while late-night in Tyre market of Gokalpur were set ablaze. Even after 12 o'clock in the night, bullets were being fired from both sides in the Chandbagh and Noor Elahi areas. Meanwhile, section 144 was implemented in 10 police station areas. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have appealed to the people to maintain peace.
