According to the media report, along with sending Mukesh's mercy petition to the President, the recommendation of the Union Home Ministry was also rejected. Following this, this petition has been dismissed on behalf of the President. Earlier, while appealing to the Delhi government to dismiss the petition, it was sent to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

The petition came to the President through the Tihar administration, to the Delhi government, then to the Lt. Governor and then to the President via the Union Home Ministry.
