Nine BJP candidates including Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, were elected unopposed to the Upper House Rajya Sabha strengthening NDA's position in the Rajya Sabha. NDA has crossed its 100-mark on Monday,November 3, 2020. On the other side, the long term dominated Congress party, is down to 38 seats. This is the lowest ever count in the 242 member House after it lost two more seats to the BJP in the current elections.

The new inclusion of 11 Rajya Sabha seats distributed as 10 from Uttar Pradesh and one from Uttarakhand. 9 were won by BJP candidates, including Union Urban Development Minister Puri, and takes the party's tally to 92 seats. It was a gain of six as three of the candidates were re-elected. NDA constituent JD(U) has five seats. NDA has alliance even with the smaller parties like RPI-Athawale, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Mizo National Front (MNF), National People's Party (NPP), Naga People's Front (NPF), Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and Bodoland People's Front (BPF), contributing 1 seat each increasing the toll by 7 seats.

The Rajya Sabha current strength is 242, halfway is 141. NDA now has 104. NDA  seeks support on crucial bills from some friendly parties like the AIADMK with 9 MPs, BJD with 9 MPs, TRS with 7 MPs and YSRCP which has 6 MPs in Rajya Sabha. They always extend issue-based support to the NDA.
