The mother of Bollywood's very famous actor Shahid Kapoor, and Pankaj Kapoor's first wife, Neelima Azeem,  has now openly spoken about her divorce after so many years. Recently Neelima said, "I did not want to separate, but Pankaj had moved ahead, so we decided to separate". Neelima and Pankaj Kapoor were married in 1979. Later in 1981 Shahid Kapoor was born and in 1984 Neelima and Pankaj separated from each other. Both got divorced and then Neelima married Rajesh Khattar in 1991, but that too did not last and both separated in 2001 after the birth of Ishaan Khattar.

Neelima married Raza Ali Khan in 2004 after two divorces and she too broke up in the year 2009. She has told about Pankaj and her divorce in a conversation with a website recently.

She said, "I had never decided to separate from Pankaj, but he had moved on. It was very difficult for me to digest, but he also had his reasons. We were friends for a long time, when I was 15 maybe we were friends. When we separated, that is when we got divorced. It was very painful for both.
