On day 10 of CWG 2018, The Historic and maiden gold medal for India in Athletics as the 20-year-old Neeraj Chopra won gold in men's javelin with a season-best throw of 86.47m. This is India’s 21st gold medal and overall tally goes up to 48 medals.

With this tremendous record, Chopra not only joined a cream of the crop list of Indian athletes to win a gold medal on their CWG debut but also became the first Indian to win in Javelin Throw at CWG.

It is only the fourth individual gold for an Indian in the track of CWG history and field sport. Earlier Milkha Singh (men's 440 yards), Krishna Poonia (women's discus, 2010) and Vikas Gowda (men's discus, 2014) preceded Neeraj Chopra in Athletics.

His last attempt is a no-throw and he finished with a best of 86.47 meters.This is season's best throw.  He got a standing ovation from the crowd.

The next best attempt after Chopra's was that of Australia Hamish Peacock as he took silver while she followed by Grenada's Anderson Peters 82.20 assuring him of a bronze.

 Worth mentioning here this is the fourth gold of the day 10 of CWG 2018 for India.
