In a bit to resolve the discrepancies over 146 seats, the Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled the All India Quota Mop-Up round counselling for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG 2021-22) admissions.
A panel led by Justice DY Chandrachud ordered a special round of counselling for 146 new seats, allowing students who had joined the All India Quota (AIQ) or the State Quota in Round 2 to participate.
The Supreme Court further ordered the Director-General of Health Services (DGHS) to invite students' alternatives within 24 hours of releasing a new notification and to conclude the process within 72 hours of the options deadline.
The Court was hearing a number of petitions from doctors who wanted to take part in the NEET-PG 2021-22 mop-up round of counselling.
One of the petitions challenges the Medical Counselling Committee's March 16 advice, which prohibits candidates from participating in the mop-up round of NEET PG Admissions counselling if they have already secured seats under the State quota.
