Neha Kakkar and Falguni Pathak, two well-known singers, have teamed up for season 13 of the singing competition show Indian Idol as their fans watched their online fight over the former's cover of the latter's original song Maine Payal Hai Chhankai. Recently, Falguni Pathak expressed her displeasure at Neha's song O Sajna's recreation of her popular 1990s song Maine Payal Hai Chhankai. The two of them are featured in a Navratri-themed episode of Indian Idol, according to a new promo released by Sony.
This weekend, Falguni will take part in the garba night during Indian Idol 13's theatre round. In the newspaper-styled promo, Neha is pictured holding dandiya sticks while surrounded by Indian Idol contestants dressed in pink. They start the theatre round with a garba night as she welcomes "legendary Falguni ma'am" to the show. Falguni continues to sing garba songs as everyone plays the dandiya around her, including judges Neha Kakkar and Himesh Reshammiya and host Aditya Narayan.
In response to the promo, some viewers referred to their exchange of words as a publicity stunt. "Song ko famous karvane ke liye kya kya karte hai yeh log," someone wrote. "pehle social media par lad ke attention grab karte hai phir ek sath TV par perform karte hai." Kya dikhava hai yaar (what all these people do to make the song a hit) refers to how they compete for attention on social media before joining forces to perform on TV. Wow, what a showoff. Ye log bas public standards ke liye karte hai (these people do everything for the public), wrote one Instagram user.
On social media, Falguni had criticised Neha's brand-new song, O Sajna. She even admitted to knowing about the remixed version three to four days prior in an interview with Delhi Times. The initial response was negative. Mujhe bas ulti aani baaki thi, aisa ho gaya tha, I thought. (I felt like I was going to throw up.)
Neha had posted notes on Instagram praising herself without mentioning anyone by name. She discussed how she was self-made and what she did to become a successful singer.
