Nepal PM Oli fails to win trust vote, President gives 3 days time to political parties

Kathmandu: In Nepal, PM KP Sharma Oli could not win his government's vote of confidence in Parliament, which has led to turmoil in Nepal's politics. However, after PM KP Sharma Oli's government could not win the trust vote, Nepal's President Vidyadevi Bhandari has given time till Thursday to various political parties to prove their majority to form a new government.

A statement issued by the President's Office on Monday said that under Article 76(2) of the Constitution of Nepal, the President has decided to invite various parties to form a majority government. According to reports, Bhandari has given three days time to political parties and asked them to stake their claim by 9 pm on Thursday.

On the directions of President Vidyadevi Bhandari, only 93 votes were polled in support of the confidence motion moved by PM Oli in the special session of the House of Representatives, the lower house of Parliament, while 124 members voted against it. A total of 232 members voted during the trust motion, out of which 15 remained neutral.
