USA: In denial of rumours of a ceasefire mediated by Egypt, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that Israel's bombing campaign against Palestinian militants in Gaza has not ended.

"The campaign is still ongoing... Netanyahu remarked that Israel was "at the height of the battle" with Gaza-based Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), adding that "we will get through this together and we will win together."

Following reports in the Egyptian media that Cairo had succeeded in brokering a ceasefire on Wednesday, Netanyahu made his statement.
