Netherlands: According to media reports from Tuesday, Dutch Foreign Minister Vopke Hoekstra has ordered the immediate closure of illegal Chinese police offices in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
According to Dutch news agency ANP, Hoekstra said he informed the Chinese ambassador about his decision. He described police stations as "unacceptable". Dutch officials would never agree to this.
The ministry will now investigate what happened in the offices.

Last week, the media covered the illegal Chinese bureau amid rumors that the Chinese government was pressuring deported dissidents by using these "service centers" as a cover.
According to the foreign minister, such offices exist in other European countries. According to China, citizens of that country can, for example, renew their driving license in such places. Hoekstra emphasized that even such consular functions, require government approval from the host country.
According to media reports, the offices were also aimed at gathering information abroad and facilitating the Chinese police.

Last week, German authorities announced they were looking into reports that the Chinese government was running an unauthorized police station in Frankfurt.
According to the Irish government, the Fuzhou Police Overseas Service Station in Dublin should be closed.

And three of the so-called "police" stations that are reportedly operational in Toronto are being investigated by the Canadian Federal Police.
