The tragic incident where the lover committed suicide took place at Janagama district center Sakhi Center on Sunday. According to Janagama CI Mallesh, Srilekha (20), daughter of Maddeboina Narsayya of Yedunutala village in Kodakandla zone, fell in love with Manohar (20), a native of the same village.

The couple left home on the 16th of this month. Srilekha and Manohar Prema got married on the 22nd of this month in Hyderabad and approached the police for protection. Police provided information to both families and refused to take the new couple. Srilekha was then sent to the Sakhi Center in Janagama for protection. Srilekha, who was suffering from mental anguish at Sakhi Center, committed suicide by hanging herself with Chunni on the toilet door.
