The CBSE has finalised its all-new Optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets for its multiple-choice Term-1 exams. The answer sheets will be evaluated on the same day as the exams for the first time. The exams, which will last 90 minutes each, will begin on November 16. This year's exams will be taken by a record-breaking 36 lakh students in grades 10 and 12.

The new OMR sheet is being decoded. In the Term 1 exams, each paper will have a maximum of 60 questions. Students must use only pens to mark their answers on the OMR sheets.

Candidates do not need to worry if they want to change their answers because the customised OMR sheet has an additional "box" alongside each answer. "In case they believe the correct answer is different from the response recorded in the oval space ('a', 'b', 'c', or 'd'), the candidate can use the box to mention which they believe is the correct answer," said Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, CBSE controller of examinations. If a candidate checks the box, only that response will be considered during the evaluation, Dr Bhardwaj explained.
