Indore's Devi Ahilyabai International Airport has answered the call of travelers by officially opening its doors to electronic visas (e-visas), a much-awaited and long-demanded feature. This significant update was confirmed by Shankar Lalwani, the BJP's representative for Indore Lok Sabha, who shared the news with reporters on Friday, expressing his satisfaction at the approval granted for e-visa acceptance at the airport.

Previously, travelers arriving from foreign countries faced hurdles as they were unable to leave the airport premises due to the lack of e-visa authorization. Lalwani highlighted instances where individuals were turned away for this reason.

Air India Proposes E-Visa Implementation at Indore Airport: Looking ahead, Lalwani mentioned that passengers will soon benefit from the introduction of the "Digi Yatra" facility upon entry to the airport. This initiative is designed to facilitate contactless and smooth movement through airport checkpoints via facial recognition technology (FRT).

The commencement of the first direct international flight from Indore to Dubai on July 15, 2019, triggered a consistent demand for e-visa acceptance. Responding to this demand, plans for another international flight departing from Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore are underway. Speculations suggest that Air India Airlines might initiate this upcoming flight, anticipated to cater to travelers heading to Thailand directly from Indore and its adjacent regions, potentially as a New Year's gift.
