New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi made several major changes to his cabinet on Wednesday. All the newly appointed Ministers have also started working from today. The ongoing tussle between the Government of India and Twitter is well known. On the issue of Twitter, the new Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that everyone should follow the law of the country. Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had hinted at Twitter that his arbitrariness was not going to work.
The ongoing tussle between Twitter and the Government of India does not seem to be coming to a halt at the moment. Twitter has not yet appointed a complaint officer as per India's IT rules, even after several adjournments, and on Thursday, Twitter told the Delhi High Court that it is going to take 8 weeks, or about 2 months, to make the appointment. Twitter was given a deadline by the Delhi High Court which expires today.
The court had given Twitter time till Thursday, July 8, to tell him by when he would appoint a local grievance redressal officer in compliance with the new IT rules. Now, Twitter has told the Delhi High Court that it will take 8 weeks to appoint a new complaint officer.
