Delhi Police personnel got a New Year gift on the first day of 2021 as insurance cover for natural death, accidental death and suicidal death.
Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava today announced a raise in the insurance cover for the personnel of the force in case of natural and accident deaths as well as suicides. Extending greetings on the occasion of New Year, he said all policemen above 40 years would undergo compulsory medical checkups so that any ailment could be timely diagnosed and treated.
He said that the Delhi Police negotiated a better insurance claim structure with Axis Bank, therefore, insurance cover for natural deaths has been raised from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 28 lakh and from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 78 lakh for accidental death. Apart from this, the family of the cop will be compensated with Rs 10 lakh if he commits suicide. Amid the pandemic outbreak, as many as 7,612 Delhi Police personnel got infected by Covid, however, 7,424 recovered but as many as 32 succumbed to the virus.
Apart from this, the Delhi Police lost 231 of its personnel due to natural deaths, 44 due to accidental deaths and 14 committed suicide in the previous year.
