Palamu: A newly married woman was beaten to death in Jharkhand's Palamu district. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it to the sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem. Police are investigating the case. The incident took place in Darua village under the Hussainabad police station area. Romi Devi, a resident of Leopard Kalan in the Haidernagar police station area, was married to Sanjeet Singh at Darua village in Hussainabad on May 14. The girl's father had given a total dowry of Rs 8 lakh by selling the land at the wedding. Even after marriage, the in-laws were torturing Romi to bring more money from her father.
The father of the deceased said that the daughter had informed him about the torture of her in-laws. After that, he took a loan of Rs 75,000 and gave it to Romi's husband. Even after this, there was no change in the son-in-law's behaviour. Birbal, the father of the deceased Romi, said, "His son-in-law Sanjit Singh was having an illicit relationship with his sister-in-law Pooja Devi. It was reported by his daughter. For this reason, Romi was beaten to death on the night of September 15."
The deceased's mother says, "Her in-laws used to torture her. They repeatedly demanded money. Ever since she went to her in-laws' house, she was not allowed to come to her maternal home. The woman's in-laws have been absconding since the incident.'' Romi's husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law Parwatia Devi, elder son Manish Singh and his wife Pooja Devi have been made criminals in this murder case. SDPO Pujya Prakash said, "An FIR has been registered. Police are investigating the case. Raids are currently underway to arrest the culprits. Soon all the criminals will be in the custody of the police.''
