Hyderabad: A Telangana court has ordered propaganda news portal The Wire to delete its 14 articles within 48 hours. All these articles were related to the misleading propaganda against India's vaccine company Bharat Biotech and the COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin developed by it. The order was passed during the hearing of a Rs 100 crore defamation case filed by Bharat Biotech against The Wire and 12 people related to it.

According to bar and bench reports, the court has forbidden The Wire, its editor Siddharth Varadarajan and others involved in the case from printing any defamatory article related to Bharat Biotech. In fact, Bharat Biotech had accused the wire of printing false articles against it in court. Senior advocate Vivek Reddy argued on behalf of Bharat Biotech. According to him, The Wire's articles are factless and misleading, which has tarnished the image of the company. The vaccine company's counsel in the court said that Bharat Biotech has earlier also prepared medicines for several diseases like TB, Chikungunya, Zika, which have been approved at the national and international level. Now the corona vaccine has been prepared in association with the top institutions of the Government of India. The Wire has published a full series of articles accusing Bharat Biotech. It questions the authenticity and approval of Covaxin without verifying the facts.

During the arguments, the court also noted that the Wire continued to write articles against Covaxin even after getting approval from the Indian government. The court said that only The Vaccine has been approved for adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years, but the vaccine could have been doubted due to the portal's continued to write misleading news. After this, the court ordered The Wire to delete 14 articles within 48 hours.
