Although Kia India has had a surprisingly silent in 2021 thus far, the Korean automaker has great ambitions for the future year and is finalizing its next offering for the Indian market. Kia India now offers extremely popular models such as the Seltos and Sonet, as well as the Carnival luxury MPV, but its next vehicle might be an MPV - codenamed KY at the moment - that could reinvigorate sales. Kia is investing big on the Indian market's rising demand for heavier automobiles.

While the business currently offers Carnival in the United States, it is a more specialized product that was never intended to be a volume generator but rather a demonstration of Kia's talents, according to company executives. "India is a critical market for Kia internationally, not just in terms of sales volume, but also in terms of manufacturing and global research and development," Tae-Jin Park, MD and CEO of Kia India, stated.

As a result, the new model might strike a balance between the two while also assisting in increasing sales. It has now been revealed that the three-row car will be unveiled in December, with an official launch date set for Q1 of 2022. "We are pleased to announce that Kia India will launch its new KY model in the first quarter of 2022. We'll be kicking off our next chapter of expansion in India with KY, consolidating our business and operations "Park stated.

Kia is banking big on bigger vehicles to appeal to Indian auto customers, and says it is ready to expanding into other sectors. Hyundai's sister firm made similar claims when it unveiled the Alcazar three-row SUV in India earlier this year. But, at a time when SUVs have obviously paid off for Kia, will it succeed with a possible MPV body type? Expect the Kia camp car to be loaded with amenities and come with a few key aesthetic cues to help it connect with potential consumers. It's also expected that this product will come with both petrol and diesel engines, as well as an automatic transmission option.

The upcoming Kia product is expected to take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6.
