Bangalore: Former Congress MLA B M Idinabba's grandson Ammar Abdul Rahman was arrested from Ullal in Mangaluru on Wednesday after an NIA raid. Rahman, 35, was also arrested in March this year in connection with the Kerala module of the Islamic State (IS). Rahman's niece is believed to be among the 13 people from Kerala who left the country in 2016 to join the terror group ISIS.
In a charge sheet filed in January 2017, NIA indicated that Ajmala and her husband Shifas had left India via Bengaluru. According to NIA, Ajmala's husband had gone to Afghanistan and joined ISIS. The agency suspects that Ajmal has been killed in 2018. For your information, former Congress MLA B.M. Idinabba passed away in 2009.
Apart from Rahman, the Central Investigating Agency has also arrested 22-year-old Madesha SP alias Ali Muavia from Bengaluru and Obaid Hamid and Mujammil Hasan Bhat of Kashmir. Rahman's wife is also being investigated. All of them are accused of being associated with Mohammed Amin Yahya, who has been sympathetic to IS. Amin Yahya was arrested from Mallapuram in Kerala on March 15.
