LOS ANGELES:  Rappers Latto and Nicki Minaj are at odds over Grammy category disagreements.
Variety reports that Minaj felt the Recording Academy was favouring Latto in the way their work was being judged.

Minaj dubbed the newcomer "an entitled Karen" during their Twitter spat, which raged on Thursday night to Friday morning. Latto fired back, calling Minaj "a 40-year-old bully" acting in a manner unbecoming of someone of her stature and age.

As the discussion heated up, the younger singer even referred to Minaj as "my idol-turned-rival." "Grandma is so bizarre; she's married and related to rapists. You won't abuse me, BITCH! Now that my idol is a rival, you hate me!" Minaj has already taken down her tweets directed towards Latto, but as of the publication of this article, Latto's side of the exchange is still visible on the platform.

Latto handled Minaj's request for her assistance in opposing the Grammy screening committee's choice to move "Super Freaky Girl" from a rap to a pop category before things really got hot. The singer of "Big Energy" tweeted: "Since March, I've ignored a tonne of your subtweets in favour of messaging you directly.

The same response I gave you when you questioned why I didn't congratulate you when you were wondering why I didn't speak up in your defence. Ur bullying behaviour is literally older than my mother." Minaj wrote: "In over a hundred interviews, this Karen has probably mentioned my name. She claims that while wearing a Barbie chain, bangs, and pink hair, she stood in line on Pink Friday. However, now, scratch off chooses to remain silent rather than speak up in support of the Black lady she has cited as her greatest inspiration." This exchange took place before the gloves were really removed.

Later, it appeared that race was a factor, as seen by Minaj's tweet regarding Latto (who is of mixed heritage): "She is currently removing the spray tan and acting like Karen. They turn black when the chi is good." Later, Minaj tweeted (in a since-deleted post) that she would make some private chats public in an effort to demonstrate that Latto had unjustified assistance from collaborators or ghostwriters.

To this, Latto replied: "I will  share them on my own, damn it. I write too, they'll all tell you! Before they came out, I heard a few of your referees, too, boo. You forgot that we all worked with the same writers? My refusal to reject it is the difference. Though I have been writing since I was 16 on live television." After the Hollywood Reporter revealed that Minaj's "Super Freaky Girl" hit had been submitted for consideration in a rap category but was switched on the first ballot by a Grammy committee into the pop category instead, the animosity spilled out into the open on Thursday.
