Niger: Microblogging website Twitter has been banned indefinitely by the Nigerian government. Instead of Twitter, The Indian Microblogging Platform Koo App has been launched (Nigeria koo app), Koo's CEO informed, 'Made in India' microblogging platform, Koo said that the app is now available in Nigeria and is keen to add new local languages to users in that West African country.

Koo was launched a day after the Nigerian government announced twitter's indefinite suspension in the country, in a post on Koo on Saturday, its CEO and co-founder, Apramayam Radhakrishna, officially confirmed that Koo is now available in Nigeria. Speaking to the media, Radhakrishnan said, "We are also considering adding the local language there. He further said that he is considering introducing a local Nigerian language in the Koo app." He had earlier said, "Nigeria is similar to India in terms of language diversity. It has hundreds of regional languages." He said, "We have created a scalable platform, and we are still expanding it, it is already available for use in many countries even today."

Nigerian Attorney General and Justice Minister, Abubakr Malami, ordered immediate prosecution of Nigerians still using Twitter, despite the federal government's ban on Twitter's operations in Nigeria.
