Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma officially confirmed that the state's night curfew will be relaxed whenever the COVID-19 cases fall below 1000.

He made the announcement when announcing that schools will resume on February 15. When COVID instances began to rise at the beginning of January 2022, the night curfew was reduced to 10 PM from 11 PM. Sarma had previously asserted the same thing on January 24, claiming that there had been nearly no deaths in the state owing to the omicron. He also stated that the rate of hospitalisation was less than 12%, which is excellent in terms of the state's COVID-19 situation.

Sarma further stated that if the state is hit by a strong strain of the illness, the government may impose more limitations. Concerning containment zones, the Chief Minister stated that in order to control the virus's spread, containment zones may be declared in areas where the infection is spreading. People, on the other hand, will not be subjected to any restrictions, allowing them to go about their everyday lives as usual.
