Chandigarh: On Sunday (May 21) in Amritsar, Punjab, a case of people attacking a church has come to light. The attackers are being described as Nihang Sikhs. The attack on the church was carried out during the Christian prayer going on there. During this both the sides came face to face and the situation became tense. There was a lot of sloganeering and stone pelting at the spot. Police reached the spot to control the situation. Christians have demanded strict action by accusing the Nihangs of sacrilege of the Bible.

At the same time, the attackers have objected to the promotion of Christianity in the costumes of Sikhs. According to the police, it is not yet clear whether the attackers were Nihangs or someone else. Police has registered the case and started investigation. As per reports, the incident took place on Sunday at village Rajewal in Amritsar. Prayers were being held at the Sikhpal Rana Ministries Church here on May 21 in the afternoon. During the prayer, about 25 attackers disguised as Nihangs reached there with their faces covered. They had taken sticks and swords in their hands. It is alleged that the attackers started fighting with the people present in the church as soon as they arrived. Along with this, vandalized the vehicles parked outside and also desecrated the Bible kept in the church. Before this sudden attack, there was a stampede and later both the groups came face to face. This made the situation tense.

It is being told that in response to the attack by the Nihangs, the Christian side also pelted stones. During this, religious slogans were also raised from both the sides. The attackers alleged that prayers are conducted inside the church dressed as Sikhs, which they objected to. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot. The police separated both the parties and pacified them by persuasion. According to SSP of Amritsar Rural, Satinder Singh, investigation is on by registering a case against unknown people.
