New Delhi [India], Aug 3 (NT): Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs VK Singh on Thursday noted that the Rajya Sabha has sent request for extradition of escapee diamantaire Nirav Modi who is a prime accused in PNB scam. He said that the request had been sent to the High Commission of India in London.

He added that the request has been sent by a special diplomatic bag for onward transmission to the UK officials.

VK Singh told that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) withdraw Nirav Modi's passport as per the provisions of Section 10(3) (c) of the Passports Act, 1967, on February 16. He further said that the same was passed on to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for onward transmission to the Interpol.
