New Delhi: Three convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case have filed a petition in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to avoid the death penalty. In this petition, three culprits have demanded a stay on the death penalty. Among the convicts who filed the petition, Akshay, Pawan and Vinay have filed this petition.

According to the new death warrant, all the convicts of Nirbhaya gang rape is to be hanged at 5:30 am on March 20. Earlier on Monday, the apex court dismissed the plea of convict Mukesh Singh in which he had sought reinstatement of all his legal remedies, saying that his old lawyer had misled him. The court said that the plea of Mukesh Singh, convicted in the Nirbhaya case, urging the reinstatement of all legal remedies is not negotiable.

The families of the four culprits who were hanged in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday seeking permission for euthanasia. Those seeking euthanasia include the elderly parents of the guilty, siblings and their children.
