New Delhi: A court in the country's capital New Delhi has postponed the hanging of the four convicts in the Nirbhaya rape case. The court has taken this decision based on the mercy petition of Pawan Gupta pending with the President. The next date of hanging has not been determined yet. Meanwhile, the curative petition filed by Pawan Gupta was also dismissed by the apex court on Monday.

According to the predetermined schedule, the hanging was scheduled to take place at 6 am on Tuesday. Earlier in the day on Monday, the Patiala House Court of Delhi refused to give a stay order. But after this, the convicts AP Singh told the court that Pawan Gupta sent a mercy petition to the President after the curative petition was dismissed in the apex court on Monday morning.

Earlier, Nirbhaya's mother, while speaking to the press, said, "The court has tried to destroy the court time and misuse the system. Now they will be hanged." He has said that, "These people have confused the system, today their appeal has been dismissed. Now they will be hanged tomorrow." But it seems that Nirbhaya's mother will have to wait longer for justice.
