On the other hand, Nirbhaya convict Vinay has filed a fresh petition in Patiala House Court through his lawyer in which he has said that he is mentally ill and needs high-level treatment. As per this, AP Singh has said in the application that Vinay has suffered not only mild head injuries but also fractures in his right hand. He is mentally ill and has schizophrenia and therefore should be referred to the Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences (Ihabas) Hospital.
According to the information received during this time, Nirbhaya's lawyer opposed the plea for the treatment of mental illness and head injury of the convict and said that it is not worthy of consideration. Vinay's lawyer AP Singh said that he could not recognize other people including his mother.
