New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday married her daughter Parakala Wangmayi in a simple ceremony. The wedding rituals took place at their Bengaluru home. Only family members and close friends attended the wedding. According to media reports, no leader or VIP guest was invited to the wedding. Sitharaman's son-in-law Prateek Doshi hails from Gujarat. He is an OSD in the PMO.

Sitharaman's daughters Parakala and Prateek were married to Brahmin tradition. The saints of Udupi Adamaru Math blessed both of them and performed all the wedding rituals. While Parakala wore a pink saree at the wedding, Prateik wore a white pancha and shawl. Sitharaman wore a Molkalmuru saree. According to media reports, Sitharaman's son-in-law Prateek is a special aide of PM Modi. He is an Officer on Special Duty in the Prime Minister's Office. He has been working in the PMO since 2014. He was given the rank of Joint Secretary in 2019 and made OSD. He looks after research and strategy work.

Pratik is a graduate of Singapore Management School. When Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Prateek was a research assistant in his office. Nirmala's daughter Parakala Wangmayi is a feature writer at Mint Lounge. He holds a Master's degree from the Department of English, University of Delhi. He has also studied at Northwestern University's Medell School of Journalism in the US. Nirmala's husband Parakala Prabhakar is a political economist. He was a communications advisor in the Andhra Pradesh government from July 2014 to June 2018.
