Niti Aayog approves compendium of Ayush practices to manage COVID

NITI Aayog has released a compendium of Ayush-based practices from states and union territories for curbing and managing the COVID-19 outbreak, an official statement said.

NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Suman Bery, who announced the release of the compendium, emphasised the need of sharing the lessons learned from the difficult times during the COVID-19 outbreak on how Ayush practises adopted at the federal and state levels benefited citizens.

The compendium offers details on the strategies employed by different Indian states and UTs to bolster their country's fight against COVID-19 by utilising Ayush's resources and actions.

Speaking at the event, NITI Aayog member V K Paul expressed his hope that the methods included in this compendium will be helpful in addressing any potential pandemic outbreaks in the future and serve as an example of an integrative strategy for health action.

The statement claims that in order to compile the list of Ayush-based practises, NITI Aayog contacted all state governments and administrations of union territories and asked them to share any Ayush initiatives they have made to manage and mitigate the Covid-19 virus.

The statement added that the analysis suggests that the nation's traditional healthcare systems need to be enhanced even further and that the integration of Ayush services grounded in scientific evidence with the current system has the potential to considerably improve India's healthcare system.
