MUMBAI: In an exciting revelation, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled plans for a fleet of new vehicles that will exclusively operate on ethanol.
Addressing a gathering in Nagpur on June 26, Minister Gadkari shared an encounter with the chairman of Mercedes Benz, who expressed their commitment to manufacturing electric vehicles exclusively in the future.
Expanding on the subject, Gadkari declared, "We are introducing a remarkable lineup of vehicles that will operate solely on ethanol. Leading scooter manufacturers such as Bajaj, TVS, and Hero have embraced this concept, ensuring their scooters run on 100% ethanol."
Furthermore, the Minister revealed his intention to launch the Toyota Camry car in August, a vehicle powered entirely by ethanol, capable of generating 40% electricity alongside its efficient performance.
Comparing the costs, he added, "Ethanol, priced at Rs 60 per litre, offers a substantial advantage over petrol, which stands at Rs 120 per litre. The average cost will be an affordable Rs 15 per litre, making it an economical choice. Additionally, it will generate 40% electricity, enhancing its appeal."
With this innovative stride towards sustainable transportation, Nitin Gadkari positions ethanol as the driving force for a greener and more cost-effective future.
