New Delhi: Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday attacked his critics and a section of the media, saying his statements were being misrepresented for political gains. Gadkari, who is often in the news for his statements, was removed from the BJP Parliamentary Board last week. He said today that he will take a legal route against those making such statements in the interest of the government and the party.

In a series of tweets, Gadkari said, "Today once again the mainstream media, sections of social media and especially some individuals have sought to continue the nefarious and fabricated campaign by distorting my statement for their political gains.'' In another tweet, Gadkari said that false information is being spread about him in public functions without context or proper context.'' He said, "Though I have never been bothered by such malicious agenda of Fringe Element, still caution all concerned to bring them under the ambit of the law in the larger interest of my government, party and our lakhs of hardworking workers." I won't hesitate to go. So, I am sharing the link of what I actually said. In his tweet, Gadkari called on the Prime Minister's Office, BJP President JP Nadda and the official handle of the party has also been tagged.

On Tuesday, the Union minister tweeted the YouTube link of his speech delivered at a book release event which is being used on social media. Gadkari, who often narrates stories related to the party and the organisation, referred to an old incident at the book launch event in which he had taken up the task of constructing a road in a village in Maharashtra and told the officer concerned that it was right if he stood by him, but even if it did not happen, he had no problem. Referring to the conversation, he said, "I am not worried about the consequences but I will do it." Stay with me if possible, otherwise, I have no problem. The statement is being projected on social media in such a way that Gadkari is not worried about losing his post.
