AHMEDABAD: An emergency in the Gujarat BJP Rupani-led government was neutralized after deputy chief minister Nitin Patel was handed over the finance department along with five other portfolios on Sunday as He took charge at the Sachivalaya on Sunday.

Nitin Patel had turned down to assume charge after taking oath on December 28 to show his discontentment at dissociating from finance and urban development portfolios, which were in his custody in the earlier Vijay Rupani cabinet. The crisis flowed away after BJP national president Amit Shah met Nitin Patel at 7:30 am on Sunday and promised him of portfolio provision in line as per his "demand".which "kept his esteem in one piece" and defended his Number Two place in the government of. "Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who has already clued-up the governor over the new allotment,” as said by Nitin Patel to reporters in Gandhinagar.

The finance department had previously been specified to Saurabh Patel. Now, Saurabh Patel is the only minister in the cabinet with possession of only one department that is energy.

The tragedy had become silage for Patidar groups which made its stand behind Nitin Patel and even in jeopardy called a bandh in Mehsana on Monday to show team spirit with him. Though, on Sunday, Nitin Patel said he was a party stalwart and was firm that he had never demanded ministerial portfolios.
