Bangladesh Cricket Board wants the International Cricket Council to extend the time of the World Test Championship (WTC) as it does not see the possibility of its team playing eight Test matches recently cancelled due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. The epidemic has had a profound impact on the international cricket program and Bangladesh could not play eight Test matches which were part of the ICC Test Championship which started in August last year. These eight Tests included a Test against Pakistan in April at home, a two-match series against Australia in June, a two-Test series against New Zealand and a three-Test series against Sri Lanka.

"There is no way to get eight Test matches in the stipulated time until the current ICC Test Championship is extended," BCB Cricket Operations President Akram Khan told Cricbuzz. "We want to see what the ICC does with the Test Championship because it is unlikely to play the eight Test matches that have been canceled until it changes," he said. "Out of the 12 Test playing nations in the WTC, nine encounter each other during two years." All countries have to play six Test series, three in home and three abroad. However not all teams will play the same number test.

Each team can collect a maximum of 120 points from each series and the two teams scoring the maximum points after the league stage is over will compete in the finals in June next year. 72 Tests are expected to be played between July 2019 and 31 March 2021. BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chaudhary also said that if the ICC Test final happens next year according to the predetermined schedule then the possibility of playing the canceled test is extremely low. Nizamuddin said, "If the Test Championship final takes place in June next year as per the predetermined schedule then the future of these matches (eight Tests) is not good. This means that there is no possibility of organizing these Test matches as there is no time to play these Test matches till next year. "But if the time of the Test Championship is extended, then there is a possibility, but if it happens then it will have an impact on other programs as the program till 2023 is very busy," he said. India is at the top while Australia is at number two.
