No Christmas Pay for Employees - Tump led Govt to Shut Down at Midnight Amid Deadlock Over the border Wall

President Trump is seeking $5 billion for building of a wall on the US border with Mexico. Democrats are steadfastly opposed, and the absence of an indescribable deal means federal funds for dozens of agencies will trail off at midnight.

It remained indistinguishable how long the blackout will last. But the optics are awful, as hundreds of thousands of federal employees will be either  grant leave or forced to work without pay in the run up to the Christmas holiday.

The House will owe back in session at noon (1700 GMT) Saturday.

Meanwhile The Senate remained open late Friday, but there were no signs yet of a breach, and the chamber was silence.

Senators stated reporters that congressional leaders from both parties were discussing behind the scenes with White House officials including Vice President Mike Pence, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and incoming chief of staff Mick Mulvaney.

One focal point was on debate was the $1.6 billion in border security funding that was a part of pending Senate legislation, number two Senate Republican John Cornyn told AFP.

But conservatives in the House would expect start at that figure.

Trump was scheduled to take off to Florida late Friday for his Christmas break, but the White House stated the president delayed the trip and would remain in Washington in an effort to recover a spending deal.
