PANAJI: In a bid to combat the drug menace and turn the coastal state into the nation's tourism hub, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant urged youth on Saturday to take part in the "No to Drugs" campaign.
The Chief minister made the remarks in Panaji while speaking at the 'Clean Coast, Safe Sea' programme on the occasion of International Coastal Clean Up Day.
Police and the Anti-Narcotics Cell are working on it. Even children should take part in order to demonstrate that Goa is a safe destination for visitors from all over the world, he said.
Goa is a state of sun, sand, and water, drawing visitors from all over the world. We should reaffirm our commitment to working together for a better, safer, and more sustainable future. The Chief Minister said that the people of Goa have made good use of the 104-kilometer-long beach stretch for tourism and blue economy and we need to pass it on to the next generation, he said. He also said that many people visit Goa's beaches, hence it is important to keep these regions tidy and secure.
This kind of awareness is required every day of the year. The beaches in Goa draw visitors from all over the world. In response to the drug menance plaguing beaches, Sawant said that the "No to drugs" campaign would be carried out all year long. "Goa should become the nation's tourism capital, and we are working toward that goal."
