Washington: Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Israel has escalated its attacks on the Gaza Strip and is reportedly preparing for a ground invasion. This intensified violence has raised concerns, but the United States has stated that it supports Israel's actions in self-defense and has no plans to intervene or halt the Israeli offensive.

White House National Security spokesman John Kirby made it clear that the U.S. backs Israel's self-defense measures. While refraining from specifying the extent and duration of Israel's ground offensive, Kirby emphasized that the U.S. is engaged in ongoing discussions with Israeli authorities. These discussions encompass several key concerns, such as safeguarding the well-being of civilians in Gaza, securing the safe return of Israeli civilians held captive by Hamas, and planning for the aftermath of a ground assault. The United States is committed to its dialogue with Israel and addressing these crucial issues as an ally.

Israel has substantially increased its attacks on the Gaza Strip, with reports indicating that a ground invasion is imminent. The Israeli military, led by Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, has asserted that the intensified attacks aim to achieve specific objectives. Simultaneously, Israel has implemented a communication blackout in Gaza, restricting internet access and other means of communication to limit civilian contact. It is important to note that the conflict between Israel and Hamas has been ongoing for 22 days, resulting in a significant loss of life. Tragically, the death toll has surpassed 8,500, with the vast majority of casualties occurring in the Gaza Strip. The toll on the Palestinian side is considerably higher, with over 7,300 lives lost, while Israel has reported 14 fatalities.

This recent escalation has led to growing international concern about the humanitarian impact of the conflict and the loss of civilian lives. The situation remains fluid, with Israel's ground invasion looming on the horizon, and the international community closely monitors developments in the region. As the conflict persists, efforts to protect civilian populations and mitigate the humanitarian crisis become even more critical.
