Lata ji, the eldest daughter of Dinanath Mangeshkar, a famous artist of his time, who ran a theatre company in Maharashtra, was born on 28 September 1929 in Indore. From Madhubala to Madhuri Dixit and Kajol, there is hardly any big actress on the screen of Hindi cinema to whom Lata Mangeshkar has lent her voice.
Lata has sung more than 30,000 songs in more than 20 languages, in 1991, the Guinness Book of World Records had admitted that she was also the most recorded singer in the world.
